Some of us lived through the fear and chaos of World War II. Some of us the anger of the Vietnam War. Then came the gas wars, 20% mortgage rate inflation, dot com bubble, Y2K (all things we know coming to an abrupt end), 9/11 burned into our minds, the world financial crises, and now this.
We always get wiser, stronger, faster, more empathetic, and more resilient. What doesn’t kill us DOES make us stronger. Let’s embrace the workout.
You can WATCH what happened, WONDER what happened, or MAKE something happen.
What does that look like? It looks like you glued to the news, paralyzed in perpetual “waiting” mode. Waiting to see what is going to happen, paralyzed in victim mode. Every time something happens we spend the rest of the day talking about it, posting about it, worrying about it, and dramatizing it. We become part of the problem.
What does that look like? It looks like our heads in the sand, “I don’t watch the negative fake news” or watching only one source of news. Conservative or liberal, your bias just continues to get confirmed versus getting educated. It looks like disconnecting from reality and the world at large with your cynicism as your excuse. “They are all lying to us.” Well some of them are and it’s our job to figure it out or get crushed by it.
What does that look like? That looks like the Marines … adapt, improvise, and overcome.
Adapt, Improvise, Overcome!
